I chose to do a skull on my ace of spades card because when i think of the ace of spades, i think of something dark, something kind of creepy and mysterious. When i think of something creepy and mysterious i think of skulls. It made it a bit easier to choose when i saw a picture of a skull and i immediately figured that that was going to be what i was going to do.
One of the problems i had with this project was the usage of oil pastels. The oil pastels smudged a lot and i made the card look sloppy in many parts. I solved this problem by erasing some of the smudges with a huge eraser which dulled down some of the marks. I also had problems with the picture that i used to help me trace the skull. The picture was really pixelized and it was hard to tell the difference between a detail and a pixel.
If i had a critique on my card it would be that the skull isn't as nice looking as it could have been. It looks a little lob sided and i needs to have more of a proportion to it. I also think that the black oil pastel on the paper could have looked better. It seems a little bit sloppy and at some parts of the card is more darker than the other. Overall, i think that this card was a success. It turned out to look better than i thought it would and I am satisfied with it.
